Italian kiwi exports allowed in South Korea

"The opening of South Korean borders for the Italian kiwifruit is a major step forward for our agricultural exports. It was a long and complex process that has allowed our entry in a booming market”, the Minister of Agriculture commented.

“This achievement is the result of a coordinated and efficient initiative carried out by Ministry of Agriculture Mipaaf together with the Foreign Ministry and our diplomatic missions”, minister of Agriculture Mario Catania explained while informing of the decision of the Korean phytosanitary authority (Animal, Plant and Fisheries Quarantine and Inspection Agency) to allow the entry of kiwifruits from Italy, after a process initiated in 2005.

“I am convinced - Catania added - that it is only a first step towards the entry of Italian fruit and vegetables in this important Asian market”.
