Minsk denies accusations of breaching oil agreement with Russia

MINSK, PRIME-TASS. Minsk on Thursday rejected Russia’s accusations of exporting excessive volumes of oil products, which would amount to a breach of contract between the two states, the Chairman of the Belarus Customs Committee Alexander Shpilevski said, RIA Novosti reported.

Under the agreement, Russia exports duty free oil to Belarusian refineries, while Minsk exports refined products – one of its key sources for revenue. Belarus is obliged to send duties received from the export operations to Russia.

Russian Ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov has said that Moscow is concerned with Belarusian oil product exports that exceed the volume of oil it receives from Russia.

“There are no illegal supplies, and there cannot be,” Shpilevski said, adding that the Russian Federal Customs Service is constantly monitoring the situation and has no claims.
