Finance Ministry: Belarus’ new eurobonds to yield just as much as previous issues

MINSK, PRIME-TASS. Belarus plans to borrow funds by issuing eurobonds, which will yield at least just as much as previous issues, Finance Minister Andrei Kharkovets told reporters on Monday.

Belarus is now undecided about new editions of eurobonds, while the government keeps monitoring the market, Kharkovets said.

Belarus seeks to improve its position in terms of external borrowing and reckons it can be a matter of proper timing. From that point of view, the government needs to stick to a balanced macroeconomic, fiscal and monetary policy to pose as a stable economy for investors, Kharkovets said.

Belarus placed on August 3, 2010 $600 million worth of Eurobonds at a coupon rate of 8.75%. The bonds will mature in 2015. Coupons are paid semi-annually, on February 3 and August 3.

The lead arrangers of the issue are BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Russian Sberbank.
