Ecuador interested in Belarus’ construction services
MINSK (BelTA) – Ecuador is interested in using Belarus’ expertise to implement projects to build housing and industrial sites, Minister of Architecture and Construction of Belarus Anatoly Nichkasov told reporters on 5 July.
Possible joint projects in the construction industry were discussed during a recent visit of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Ecuador.
In many respects Ecuador got interested in Belarus’ construction services after Belarus implemented successful projects in Venezuela. “The five-year work in Venezuela has borne fruit in terms of strengthening the image of Belarus in the market of Latin America. We built the residential area there in a short period of time. Other countries are watching our work in Venezuela. Today Ecuador says it wants us to build a number of facilities similar to the ones we did in Venezuela,” Anatoly Nichkasov said.
Thanks to new contracts, Belarus will be able to further secure its foothold in Latin America. "Surely, we can gain a foothold in the region. It is very important for us. This is not just about the construction, but also about technology transfer, training of staff,” said Anatoly Nichkasov.
The minister noted that involvement of Belarusian builders in projects in other countries is often complicated by legislative barriers. For example, in Venezuela, the number of foreign personnel in a project should not exceed 10-20%. This is strictly regulated by law and monitored by trade unions.
