Vietnam to get Belarusian trading house

A Belarusian trading house will be set up in Vietnam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Vietnam with concurrent accreditation in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand Valery Sadokho told media in the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 10 July.

The diplomat said in the near future a Belarusian trading house will be registered in Vietnam. Premises have been chosen in the city of Hanoi to display samples of Belarusian goods and provide advice to anyone.

The Ambassador said Belarus should start a small enterprise in Vietnam to process dairy products. “Belarus sells a great deal of dairy products to Vietnam. Why can’t we set up a processing enterprise there instead of supplying raw materials? An end product costs much more,” remarked Valery Sadokho.

The Ambassador also stated that Belarus-Myanmar cooperation has been stepped up, with certain agreements being implemented. “This year a major contract for the delivery of 700 MTZ tractors and 15 BelAZ trucks will be implemented,” he said.

Valery Sadokho said he believes that in order to step up Belarusian presence in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand, apart from sending product catalogues to these countries Belarusian manufacturers should travel there and get familiar with peculiarities and needs of the regions. “For instance, one company took a closer look at Belarusian vodka deliveries and export skyrocketed six times. These countries are a very large and promising market, however, efforts should be put into making this cooperation even more effective,” he emphasized.
