Horizont starts manufacturing smart TV sets

The Belarusian electronics manufacturer Horizont will start manufacturing smart TV sets in August, BelTA learned from Yuri Predko, Director General of the holding company OAO Horizont.

The TV sets will offer 3D imaging in high definition, DOLBY sound technology, Internet access via local area network, including Wi-Fi, and video playback. The new product will boast the energy efficiency class A+. In addition to a large choice of TV channels the smart TV sets will be able to offer new information services, which are not available in a conventional TV set.

Nowadays Horizont manufactures virtually the entire range of television products practicing technologies used by internationally recognized electronics brands. Horizont also manufactures TV sets for several foreign companies.

At present the company offers about 50 TV set models. Apart from that, Horizont makes microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners, bread machines, and air conditioners. Manufacturing tablet computers under the brand Horizont is a promising avenue. Horizont tablets will offer the same functionality that the latest foreign competitors do but at Belarusian prices. The company also takes orders to manufacture LED products for aircraft and trains.

OAO Horizont is expanding the sales area. The bulk of its products is sold in the CIS states and neighboring non-CIS states. These countries buy Horizont TV sets and TV sets of the other brands Horizont makes.

In H1 2012 the company increased output by 106.5% in comparable prices as against H1 2011. Export more than doubled, with the export share in the output at 72.5%. This year the company has created the capacity to manufacture 1 million TV sets per annum depending on the size of TV sets.

Founded in December 2002 out of the manufacturing corporation Horizont, OAO Horizont is now the CIS’ largest holding company manufacturing television products and consumer radio electronics. In 2010 OAO Horizont became the managing company of the holding company Horizont. The holding company’s manufacturing division employs about 2,800 people.
