Minister: Belarus’ cement output to reach 10m tonnes in 2012

Belarus’ cement output is expected to reach 10 million tonnes in 2012, after OAO Belarus Cement Plant (Kostiukovichi, Mogilev Region) and Krichevtsementnoshifer (Mogilev Region) launch two production lines, Belarus’ Minister for Architecture and Construction Anatoli Nichkasov told a press-conference on Tuesday.

OAO Krasnoselskstoimaterialy launched a new cement production facility early this year to manufacture 1.8 million tonnes a year. Similar facilities will soon be launched at OAO Belarus Cement Plant and Krichevtsementnoshifer, the minister informed.

By the end of the year Belarus will have a total of 6 cement plants up and running, their overall production capacity reaching 10 million tonnes a year, the minister said.

To keep its construction industry busy Belarus needs 4-5 million tonnes of cement per annum, Nichkasov said. The surplus cement will be exported or used to manufacture products with a higher added value, the minister said.
