China starts shipping equipment for new CCGT at Lukoml power plant
China has started shipping the equipment for the new combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) at Lukoml State District Power Plant, Belt learnt from Vitebskenergo.
A batch of inset plates for the boiler unit and steam turbine has already arrived. Now the Lukoml plant is formalizing the documents for customs clearance of metal constructions for the boiler unit, steel structures, protective shields for the boiler unit, and some part of the exhaust stack.
Speaking about the status of implementation of the project, Vitebskenergo noted that all works are on schedule.
Construction of the 427MW CCGT is a joint Belarusian-Chinese project. The project will help the Lukoml plant upgrade energy generation facilities and save 242,000 tonnes of fuel equivalent per year. In monetary terms this would equal more Br500 billion. Fuel for combined cycle gas turbine is natural gas. The main advantage of the CCGT is its high efficiency of 57% as against the current 39.4%. Combined cycle gas turbines consume less water per unit of electricity and are more environmentally friendly.
The 400MW CCGT construction project is carried out in pursuance of the Decree of the head of state and the contract between Vitebskenergo and China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation to construct the 427MW CCGT at the Lukoml plant. The project was launched in January this year. The unit will be put into operation in June 2014.
