Bank Processing Centre refutes reports about technical failures of August 27-28
Belarus’ OAO Bank Processing Centre has refuted media reports about a technical failure, which made payment terminals at points of service inoperable, the BPC said in a release.
Although payment terminals would not fulfil card transactions, cardholders would get money written off their card accounts.
The BPC issued a statement to inform that there had been no failures in the proprietary network of payment terminals. The BPC specified that on August 27 at 17.36 - 17.53 and 17.39 - 17.56 on August 28 there were a series of failures on card transactions by VISA cards issued banks, which partner with other processing centres than the BPC of Belarus.
OAO Bank Processing Center was established in 2002 by a group of prominent banks and Belarus’ industry flagships to promote cashless transactions by means of plastic cards, and to develop a service infrastructure for cardholders.
