Croatia hopes for more German tourists this year
Early tourist season indicators show that German guests will remain the number one visitors to Croatia in 2011, with the Adriatic country being one of their top five preferred destinations.
Some tour operators report an increase in demand between 20 and 100 per cent for vacations in Croatia, the daily Vecernji List writes.
The interest was growing even before the unrest in Tunisia and Egypt, but it seems that the turmoil in those countries is forcing vacationers to choose alternatives.
Although some estimates call for 100,000 more German guests than last year, the Ministry of Tourism would be happy with more moderate increases.
"We would be happy if last year’s growth of 4.2 per cent continued," the Minister of Tourism, Damir Bajs said.
