Market of vegetable oil in the Republic of Kazakhstan, January-September 2010
Vegetable oil is one of the popular products with residents of Kazakhstan and accounts for considerable part of the country’s processing industry market. At present, refined vegetable oil is in greatest demand: in 2009 its production exceeded 75 thousand tons. For comparison, over the examined period production of crude sunflower oil was 50.3 thousand tonnes, cotton-seed oil - 34 thousand tonnes. From 2003 through 2009 output of refined sunflower oil practically doubled – from 43.5 thousand tonnes to 75.1 thousand tonnes (see Fig. 1). Fig. 1. Production of crude sunflower oil in last years slightly decreased: from 63.9 thousand tonnes in 2003 to 50.3 thousand tonnes in 2009. In January-September 2010, its output was 45.8 thousand tonnes (see Fig. 2). Fig. 2 Production of crude sunflower oil in Republic of Kazakhstan, tonnes 
Cotton-seed oil is one more popular type of vegetable oil in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Its output over the last years remained stable with a slight tendency for growth. From 2003 through 2009, production of cotton-seed oil rose from 27.1 thousand tonnes to 34 thousand tons, and during 9 months of 2010 Kazakhstan enterprises produced 21.8 thousand tons of cotton-seed oil (see Fig. 3). In recent years one of the main tendencies of the vegetable oil has become growth in consumption of refined sunflower oil and, consequently, decrease in consumption of crude sunflower oil.
