According to the Canadian Dairy Information Centre (CDIC), total imports of dairy products made 444.07 mln. С$ (CAD). That was С$33.31 (9.08%) mln. lower than the level of 2008. In physical terms the volume of imports shrank by 4.97 thous. tons or 4.84% as against the year 2008 and totaled 97.77 tons.

According to Canadian Dairy Information Centre, dairy export volume in 2009 amounted to CAD 229.55 million, that is by CAD 25.33 million (or by 9.94%) down compared to the figure of 2008. Export volume amounted to 83.7 thousand tonnes in volume terms, or 95.84% compared to the figure of the previous year. Canadian export dynamics of some dairy products in monetary terms during 2006-2009 is shown in Fig. 1.

Government and Canada’s industry economic entities work in close cooperation with a view to control the movement of milk from farms to consumers. In Canada the main associations of the dairy industry include: the Farmers Union - Milk Producers of Canada (DFS), Milk Processors Association of Canada (DPAC), Canadian Commission on dairy products (CDC), local marketing boards and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Canada (AAFC). These bodies work in close cooperation to support and develop the dairy industry in Canada.

The main producer is traditionally China, which manufactured 1/3 of the total volume of metal in 2007. It was practically the only country, which ensured the growth of this indicator, continually increasing its share in the world market of high-grade zinc.
