According to data by the Committee on Agriculture and Foodstuff of Novgorod oblast, the area seeded with the main agricultural crops by large-, middle- and small-sized agricultural enterprises as of June 16, 2010 amounted to 39,045 ha (+0.8% compared to 2009), including 19,091 ha of grain and pulse crops (+0.8%), 16,804 ha of potatoes (+0.8%), and 3,150 ha of vegetables (+0.5%) (Table 1).

As of the Q1 2009, the number of small-scale enterprises was 1211 in Mordovia, or 147 more than in the same period of the last year. Small-scale enterprises take the greatest share in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance services of auto cars and home appliances, and etc. (24%). 19.2% of small enterprises act in the sphere of construction, 16.3% - real estate activities, rent and service rendering, 15.3% - manufacturing production. 13.2% of small companies is engaged in agriculture, hunting and forestry.
