Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya were established on August 30, 1996. November 1, 2000 saw the Belarus-Libyan Joint Commission for the Economic, Trade and Technical and Scientific Cooperation created. The contractual-legal base is supplemented with a protocol on cooperation between the Belarus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the General Union of Commercial-Industrial and Agricultural Chambers of Libya.
